Accessible Urban Farming

Investigate issues of accessibility, equity and access within local food communities, urban farming, and school gardens. Experience the value of being connected to nonhuman life. Discover how (non)access to healthy, fresh and local food impacts the quality of life for yourselves and the broader community. Volunteer at a local urban farm; learn first-hand how farmers' work and values contribute to a community's access to fresh, local and healthy food. Through field trips and experiential learning, students will evaluate accessibility and will create projects to increase awareness and inclusion.

This course is offered in collaboration with Humanities Lab.
